Cineplex is building what they call the Rec Room, 40-thousand square feet of space dedicated to drinking, gaming and fun beyond the usual barstool banter. Set to open this summer, the downtown Toronto entertainment complex is to be erected just south of the CN Tower at Roundhouse Park, 255 Bremner.
Rec Room will be a sister facility to the current incarnation located in Edmonton, Alberta. Arcade games, pool, ping pong, a VR centre, e-sports, and more will bring back fond memories of millennials’ childhood. The beer on tap will be mostly craft brews, capitalizing on twenty-something’s infatuation with discovering new and intriguing tastes. A live performance venue will be located at the back in a separate theatre-style room that will accommodate 300 standing or 200 seated, which will house concerts on a weekly basis. Check out CityNews’ extensive tour of the construction below.
