Deadmau5 is getting cozy with the current global hip hop phenomenon alongside the signing of mau5trap’s newest enlistee, Shotty Horroh. Pen was put to paper by the Manchester battle rapper this weekend – the signing itself came to fruition over Twitter. Earning a reputation as one of the best battlers in the UK, Shotty gains international respect thanks to his sharp take on free-styling.

From the get go, mau5trap was bestowed with a reputation as a label without boundaries. While the ambient and progressive vibe of deadmau5 has carried on since the brand’s launch ten years ago, the signing of acts like Skrillex, Rezz and Excision over the years have displayed that the Canadian owner isn’t afraid to take chances on a variety of genres.

Releasing a pairing of tracks in the past, deadmau5 and Shotty’s collaborative efforts are sure to transcend the expectations of listeners. If their previously rolled-out ‘Legendary’ and ‘Okay’ are anything to draw from, some ultra fresh and very dreamy hip hop is on the way. However, the signing doesn’t indicate that forthcoming tracks will be collaborations, the freestyler could be the dropping beats under the mau5trap brand solo.

Back to work.
