The Canadian DJ Show is bringing the experts to your doorstep this weekend. In addition to a plethora of production seminars, live performances and a bustling show floor, a massive panel of music industry publishers, musicians and tastemakers will take the stage. This year, the CDJ Show introduces an Artist & Songwriting Panel to all full pass holders on Sunday, March 13th. Composer Ryner Stoetzer moderates a conversation with old-school and new-school producers, packaged with an added focus on songwriting. Techno and progressive producer Tim Penner, Base Toronto’s Mikey Palermo and Andreas Rizek, AKA Cosella, bring a contemporary production prowess to the panel. The American Lenny Fontana, live PA/DJ Shine, Detroit techno representative John Norman, and singer-songwriter Jasmine Denham bring a robust and articulate range of industry experience to the 8-guest panel.

A noteworthy side note – the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers (SOCAN) will have a presence on this year’s artist/songwriting panel thanks to Andreas Rizek. The Toronto-based producer currently operates as an A&R rep for SOCAN, who will be operating a booth on the trade show floor throughout the weekend. The company is the country’s sole performance rights organization (PRO), who distributes public performance royalties to songwriters, composers and music publishers. This includes payouts to artists who have their music played in a public setting such as concerts, restaurant music, radio plays, ice cream socials, and the million other public performance settings that artists can claim. As the only PRO in Canada that can pay you these royalties, SOCAN’s involvement proves invaluable for all delegates attending the artist/songwriter panel as well as the rest of the Canadian DJ Show celebrations.
