Escapade is on the move from the racetrack location of yesteryear. Traditionally taking place in the large plot of land central to the Rideau Carleton Raceway (home since 2014), the show is planting roots at Landsdowne Park, just south of the downtown core.

As detailed by organizers in this week’s news bulletin, Lansdowne Park is a 5-minute drive from the downtown core making it a central location for all festival goers. Escapade’s new home will also include free transportation via Oc Transpo from anywhere in the city, two outdoor stages looking over the historic Rideau Canal and an Indoor arena stage with enhanced production. This year’s show is certainly going to be a distinctive one, quelling the yearly complaints that the raceway venue was too far from the downtown core, and after parties for that matter.
“It is with mixed emotions that we are announcing a change of venue for the upcoming festival. While we apologize for the adjustment of a major festival element, we are ultimately excited about the new location, the Lansdowne Park, as it will provide a better experience to our festival goers and is one of the most sought out venues in the city.”

Ali Shafaee, director of partnerships for Escapade, said to the Ottawa Citizen that the event is bringing in state of the art audio gear from a PK Sound that allows musicians to direct the sound to a specific area. PK’s Trinity Sound System will help to minimize the impact from sound traveling beyond the festival grounds, nevertheless directing it towards audience members. Heineken Escapade Music Festival takes place in Ottawa on June 24-25.
