Back in May, DJ Mag announced the debut of the Best of North America series, a batch of awards that recognized the top labels, musicians, and venues on this side of the pond. For once, the global electronic music brand has published a list of earners that are surprisingly not shrug-worthy. Unlike DJ Mags yearly Top 100 poll, Best of North America recognizes the hard-working craftspeople of our continent who are making waves in a multitude of genres and settings.

The votes are tallied and the first-ever winners of DJ Mag’s Best of North America Awards thankfully included quite a few Canadians. Most noteworthy, Kaytranada earned a Best Album nod for his acclaimed 99.9%. Unsurprisingly, Montreal’s Stereo reigned supreme as Canada’s most sought after underground venue.
